Where your treasure is, there will your heart be also

What we treasure is what our hearts are drawn to. The heart is situated in the middle - between the mind and the body. It is as such a medium between the higher and the lower.

If our hearts gravitate towards the things of this world it will be heavy and laden - but when we open ourselves to the higher principles of love; freedom, justice and equality - it gives our hearts wings; symbolic for entering the upright, spiritual path towards heaven - union with God.

Balance is created, when the winged heart then carefully weighs life's choices; gathering information from the senses and then measuring them by the principles of love before acting; that is the middle way - where you can be in the world - but not off the world.
